Rooted - 4th Hope Church - Growing Deep in God's Word - Jeremiah 17:7-8

Rooted begins in the fall and runs each Sunday Morning during the 10:30AM service.

Rooted is our new confirmation ministry at HOPE Church for students in grades 8-10th. It is a two-year journey through the Old Testament and New Testament designed to help students know God's Word, ask good questions, and discover what it means to follow Jesus.

Why change Confirmation?

We believe students need more than information about Christianity. They need the tools and confidence to engage their faith for themselves.

Rooted is designed to help students:

  • Know how to engage God’s Word

  • Wrestle with real questions about their faith and about the Bible

  • Connect Scripture to their everyday lives

  • Keep growing in faith long after Rooted is over

The 3 R’s of Rooted

Relationship with Each Other

You’ll build relationships with the other Rooted students and have the opportunity to grow together along the way.

Relationship with Adults & Peer Mentors

You will get to know some of the adults and older students here at HOPE, including both staff and volunteers.

Relationship with Jesus

A relationship with Jesus is the most important relationship you will ever consider. In Rooted you will be encouraged and challenged to enter into a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ and grow in your relationship with Him. Our desire is that you would know how deeply He loves you and that you would grow in your love for Him.

What kind of stuff will we do?

Memorization

Yes, you get to do the memory work! It is good for the brain and good for your life. Memorizing God’s Word is really a great privilege -honest.

Writing

This will help us learn better about ourselves in God’s story. The focus will be reflection in our faith journey not academic perfection. We will, however, stress academic integrity.

Questions

Most weeks we will ask a tough question together and learn how to search the Bible for answers together in small groups. We will close with a short teaching from the Bible and discuss what we learned.

Encouragement

We want Rooted to be a place where people feel known, supported, and encouraged. We’ll look for opportunities to encourage one another, celebrate each other’s wins, and be there when things are hard.

Prayer

Prayer is not simply something we learn about; it is something we do. As we grow in our relationship with God, we will learn to seek Him through prayer and make it a regular part of our lives.

Teaching & Discussion

Each week, we’ll spend time learning about who God is and what He says about you. Our goal isn’t simply for you to learn the “right” answers or repeat things back to us, but to genuinely know God and understand how much you matter to Him. There is so much to discover about who God is, and we’re excited to explore that together as we learn how knowing Him shapes the way we live and follow Him.

The Bible

Our main resource is the Bible. It is an amazing collection of books given to us by God! It is unlike any other book, and our hope is that all of us will learn how to read it, understand it, and use it well to shape the way we live.
